Hawaii Vacation Options

Hawaii Vacation Options

Article by Ellen Gentry

It is hard to beat a vacation to Hawaii when it comes to relaxing on a beach and having fun. This is just the place for a lovely and refreshing break to recharge the batteries.

Perhaps you prefer going to just one of the island destinations or possibly you may want to consider spending time on all the islands. Each of the islands has something distinct to provide.

While planning a holiday to Hawaii, you might prefer to remain on one specific island or make plans to visit other islands.

Oahu is the most visited island in Hawaii. Even if it’s just to change planes at the Honolulu airport, most vacationers travel to Oahu. On Oahu, you will see the modern city of Honolulu, which also is Hawaii’s state capitol. You will also discover renowned Waikiki beach. To be found on the southern shore of the island are Pearl Harbor and the museum which honors the USS Arizona that was sunk during the beginning of the Second World War.

Kauai is situated north of Oahu. It is, geologically, the oldest of any of the Hawaii Islands. There’s much natural beauty to see in this island. You will also find many different options for enchanting getaways and outdoor recreation.

Opposite in the island chain from Kauai is Molokai. Just about half the population of Molokai is of native Hawaiian roots. The island remains ardently connected to its Hawaiian culture.

Lanai is less populated than the rest of the Hawaiian Islands, and is particularly ideal for a quiet and relaxing vacation to Hawaii. Life is much slower paced in Lanai, there are no stop lights and it is perfect if you need privacy and a more casual vacation than you will get on Oahu. Lanai also boasts two very good golf courses.

The second biggest island in Hawaii is Maui. Several of the finest beaches anywhere are located here. Maui boasts terrific opportunities for observing humpback whales that traverse through these waters every winter season.

The Big Island of Hawaii is the largest of all of the islands in Hawaii. Almost all the planet’s naturally occurring climates are experienced on Hawaii’s Big Island. Along with sandy beaches, you will have the chance to tour Kilauea, earth’s most active volcano.

If you’re unsure as to what island you want to spend most of your vacation, or if this happens to be your first trip to Hawaii, then why not investigate one of Hawaii’s cruise lines? You’ll board your luxurious cruise ship, upon which you’ll spend your nights, and after departing Honolulu you’ll spend a day and a half on each island. What could be a better way to view the Hawaiian Islands for the first time and assess which island you like best?

If you prefer to sleep on land, you will find a wide range of vacation accommodations in the islands. They will range from condo and vacation homes, villas, bed and breakfast accommodations and cabins.
